A spacecraft engineer who was having “a last minute dart” is being blamed for a fiery explosion that destroyed a SpaceX rocket at Cape Canaveral.
The rocket had a Facebook satellite on board, reportedly worth hundreds of millions of dollars.
No one was injured in the explosion, which has been described as an “anomaly” in a statement by SpaceX, the company responsible for launching the rocket near the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
Although authorities won’t admit it, several sources tell Broken News that an engineer smoking a cheeky cigarette on the launchpad is to blamed for the accident, with a damage bill running into the hundreds of millions.
“Sergio, he loves smoking his Camels,” a co-worker told Broken News. “He just got a little close this time.”
