Australia Post boss Ahmed Fahour has cracked under pressure during Senate estimates hearings today, telling Senators that he had “no idea” when their respective ASOS deliveries would be arriving.
“I’m afraid I don’t have a date for when your strappy sandals and faded denim tote will arrive Senator,” he admitted. “I will have to take that question on notice and get back to you.”
Mr Fahour had expected to be quizzed on his controversial salary package and appeared to have answers prepared for that line of questioning, but was blindsided when confronted with questions about the senator’s missing packages.
“So you’re telling me you can’t tell me when the package containing my black turtleneck and hemp loafers will arrive?” asked Greens senator Richard di Natale.
“No, sir, I’m afraid I do not,” the Australia Post chief snapped back.
“But rest assured that when it is ready to be delivered to you, we will make sure that it is not in fact delivered, but instead we will leave a collection slip in your letter box saying we tried and you weren’t home, even though you stayed home all day for the parcel and would definitely have heard the doorbell and we will send your parcel to your local post office for collection which will of course be a bit of a nightmare for you to collect because we are only open during office hours on weekdays,” the Post chief responded.
